Long matches in a jar sit at a higher price point — $14–24 retail is common — at a similar or better margin, because the perceived value of the vessel carries the price.
Why they sell
Matches are a low-risk impulse buy. A customer who isn’t sure about a $40 candle will still drop $6 on a beautiful box of matches — and it’s a gateway to your brand. Placed at the register, they lift units per transaction without discounting anything.
